Donny is a plein air painter, which means that he paints on location with natural light.

He paints with oil, on a linen or cotton canvas. He usually drives to a location and paint for hours until the lighting changes, and then he moves his easel to another view and try to capture the same place at a different angle with different light. Sometimes he will paint the exact same scene on a new canvas two hours later and get a completely different painting because of the variation in light.

His work follows a common theme of love and inspiration, and they carry appropriate titles such as "When a Dream Appears" and "Imagine My Heart with You." His paintings reveal an intimate perspective into his heart and soul, and his signature style is strong color with simple form.

"I am a California painter, and I am in awe of the beauty that California has in its landscapes and seascapes. But in the past few years, I have ventured off to Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah and Nevada and found many new, beautiful locations that have captured my desire to paint them. I have now have included scenes from those states to add to my expanding collection of California Landscapes‚ ".

Donny studied and graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. His primary belief is "Follow your passion... the rest will fall in place."
